by CP Staff

The 2005 NMRA-Denso Ford Drag Racing Series, presented by Ford Racing, has announced a purse increase for the Hot Street, Drag Radial and Real Street eliminators. Starting in Bradenton, the winner of Edelbrock Hot Street will receive $1,000.00 and the runner-up $500.00. BFGoodrich’s Drag Radial category winner will also be the recipient of $1,000.00 and the runner-up $500.00.

In addition, the semi-final round money has increased to $125.00. In 5.0 Mustang Magazine Real Street, purses were increased slightly across the board as follows; winner: $500.00, runner-up: $250.00, semi-finals: $100.00, and quarters $40.00. Other purses remain consistent for 2005. Entry fees at the gate will remain the same for 2005.

Hedman Hedders Wild Street competition will be held at eight NMRA events (all except Bradenton, Florida), and these street-legal competitors will be asked to complete a 30-mile drive on city and highway streets before racing. All entrants are required to have fully street-legal vehicles, including registration, license, insurance, and state i.d. sticker.

Hedman Hedders Wild Street is a class for everyone, from new enthusiasts to hardcore street race veterans. As long as your car is street-legal, this is the class for you, as Wild Street awards not only the quickest car, but also features 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15-second winners.

The first 200 entrants at each of the NMRA All-Ford Auto Show & Shines, presented by Dallas Mustang, will receive limited edition NMRA canvas tote bags as part of their auto show entry. The NMRA Auto Show is poised to have a big year, and there are lots of giveaways for show entrants this year.

The limited-edition NMRA canvas tote bag will be packed with goodies including an official 2005 NMRA dash plaque, NMRA CD Holder, NMRA License Plate Frame, NMRA Auto Show Participant Decals, and NMRA Flashlight Keychain holder. Also, expect your goody bag to be stuffed with some surprise gifts from NMRA sponsors and manufacturers.

One measure of the success of an event series, such as the NMRA-Denso Ford Drag Racing Series, is the return of previous the year's sponsors and contingency supporters. Continuing supporters confirmed for 2005 include: Trans-Dapt of Whittier, CA; Detroit Locker of Rockford, IL; Steeda Autosports of Pompano Beach, FL; Auto Meter of Sycamore, IL; Anderson Ford Motorsport of Clinton, IL; Harland Sharp/Custom Speed Parts of Strongsville, OH; Tremec in Farmington Hills, MI; Edelbrock of Torrance, CA and Hedman Hedders of Whittier, CA.

Newly signed sponsors for the 2005 season include: RPS Performance Products of Chatsworth, CA; Competition Clutch of Conyers, GA; Moser Engineering of Portland, IN; Comp Cams of Memphis, TN; FAST in Brighton, MI and TCI Automotive of Ashland, MS.
