Thursday practice sessions were dominated by the #54 Hyper Sport Mustang GT driven by Romeo Kapudija and Patrick Dempsey, showing lap times of 2:03.

Friday morning practice lowered to bar with Tom Nastasi and David Empringham piloting the Blackforest #5 Mustang GT around the 3.56 mile course in 2:01.7. The Rehagen/ROush #59 Mustang GT sat in second place with a time of 2:03, driven by Dean Martin, Larry Rehagen and Jack Roush, Jr.

Practice this morning again brought out the best in the Joe Foster/ Scott Maxwell-driven #55 Mustang GT, with a 2:01.5 best lap, followed again by the #59 car with a 2:02.4 result. Neither car ran in the afternoon practice session, which had the #38 BGB Motorsports Porsche 996 on top with a competitive 2:02.5 lap time.

The Blackforest Motorsports GT-class entry practiced in the Rolex series sessions. Session 7 result of 1:53.286 put it as fourth fastest in the GT category.

"The car is going to be there, but it's brand new and we're going through a lot of teething pains," said lead driver Tom Nastasi. "We've tested three or four times, and have made a lot of changes to it. It's a work in progress right now." The car was the first Ford Mustang built by Crawford Composites, and will be one of three different Crawford-built marques expected to compete in GT in 2007.

Blackforest has Nastasi joined by Champ Car World Series veteran Alex Tagliani, Lou Gigliotti and Guy Cosmo in the GT entry. "I was very lucky to meet Tom Nastasi when we raced at Trois-Rivieres," Tagliani. "He is a very passionate guy and loves racing. He was racing in Grand-Am Cup in Three Rivers."

"I was very surprised, qualifying on the front row in my first race in a sedan car. I wound up liking sports cars very quickly, and then Tom was looking to run a GT program the year after. That's when we started talking. I want to run as many races as I can that are not in conflict with Champ Car."
