June Sales SHow Hope
According to the company, Mustang sales to retail customers in June nearly matched year-ago levels. The new 2010 Mustang, which debuted in May, also achieved a 52 percent conquest rate in June – one of the highest for any Ford product.
Conquest rates reflect the portion of non-Ford product traded in on the purchase of a Ford product and indicate a model's ability to "reach" across lines of brand loyalty.
Overall June sales of 7,632 units still represented an almost 30% drop compared to the 10,893 cars sold in June of 2008. Year to date sales numbered 33,788 units, compared to last year's delivery of 55,053 pony cars - a drop of 38.6%.

Ford-brand nameplates showing the fastest recovery, with sales ahead of last June, included Fusion (+26%), Escape (+1.9%), Expedition (+7.1%) and Ranger (+8.8%). Ford Flex sales of 4,784 were about 2.5 times that of June last year when it was introduced. Sales of the company’s hybrid vehicles totaled 3,649, a June sales record and up 91 percent versus a year ago.
The company also reported that internal and external studies show a positive trend in the percentage of consumers with favorable
opinions about Ford, and growing numbers of consumers who are willing to consider purchasing a Ford product thanks to improved fuel economy, smart technology and higher residual values.
"Customers are showing us just how much they value the quality, fuel efficiency, safety and smart technology incorporated in our new product lineup," commented Jim Farley, Ford group vice president, Marketing and Communications. "This is an exciting time for Ford, which has more new vehicles in the market this year than any other automaker."
