Summer Begins at Carlisle

by CP Staff

Something like a Haj for Muslims, the annual pilgrimage to the All-Ford Nationals at Carlisle signals both the unofficial start of summer and the opening of the serious show season.

The Carlisle All-Ford Nationals demonstrate the strength of the Blue Oval. This show attracts new-car buyers and vintage lovers, while providing customers with a vendor shopping experience that is second to none.

Opening today, the All-Ford Nationals run through Sunday and feature a number of specialty exhibits for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury enthusiasts.

45 Years of Mustangs: To commemorate the 45th anniversary of the original pony car and the introduction of the latest edition of the Mustang, there is a special display as you drive into the fairgrounds, featuring an example from each year of production.

Ford GT Display: The car known as "Sonic Blue" has been located and will be on display! This is your opportunity to see this spectacular piece of history in person. Chris Theodore (original owner of “Sonic Blue” and past VP at Ford) and Fred Goodnow (responsible for developing the GT-40 and the GT vehicles) will be attending. If that is not enough, Camilo Pardo, original designer of the GT will be attending and sharing tales of the GT design process, and he might even have some really neat stuff for you to ogle over, including his art and maybe one of his cars, too.

Mustang Lemonade: Come and enjoy the sight of lots of yellow Mustangs. Lemonade at times is tart, but this collection of Yellow Mustangs will be VERY sweet! Picture 50 Yellow Mustangs all lined up in a row. The Yellow Mustang Registry is really fired up and plans to outdo 2008.

All these are just the beginning. For all tastes, running from discerning to eclectic, you'll find somthing memorable at the All-Ford Nationals. Pack up the car now and find a hotel. What better weekend could there be for a road trip?
