Andrew Caddell made a little bit of Ford Racing history on Friday as the Washington state native scored the first-ever pole in Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup competition with a fast lap time of 1:36.112-seconds at Road Atlanta.

Tucson, Arizona resident Jamie Slone will start Saturday’s 45-minute sprint race alongside Caddell on the front row after setting a fast time of 1:36.637-seconds.

Caddell, who was the runner-up in the 2007 SCCA Mazda MX-5 championship, is hoping to get his 2008 season off to a fast start.

“The car was great - a little loose in some places, but TC Motorsports gave me a great car,” said Caddell. “I made a couple of mistakes on my fastest lap, so I think we could have gone a little bit quicker but its great to start this race from pole. I’m not sure what to expect tomorrow, as I haven’t raced with most of these guys, but hopefully we can get a clean start and can stay up front.”
