Mustang Sales Rebound
Mustang Sales Rebound

You gotta know it's a tough market when shareholders and analysts are pleased when things don't tank as badly as they were expecting.

It remains a mystery to us why the auto industry is getting so much press these days, while the financial maggots that caused this whole problem in the first place only get the odd mention when they do something really stupid. Of course, their doing anything really stupid is old news by now...

All of the automakers reported their April sales today and the news was far from uplifting across the board. Overall, Ford Motor Company sales are down by 31% for the month, compared to April of 2008.

The Ford Fusion mid-size sedan, however, is setting new records with April sales of 18,321 units, a full 21.7% ahead of this month last year. This is the first full minth of sales for the restyled and re-engineered 2010 Fusion.

Mustang sales have finally reversed their disturbing decline with sales of 7699 units in April. While this is a drop of 23.4% compared to the same month last year, it is a significant improvement from the sub-4000 sales number seen just a couple of months ago.

So far, Mustang sales are still down by almost 50% for the year to date (17,344 vs. 34.527 in 2008), but the tide may be turning... and if it is for the Mustang, so it should be for the more pedestrian models across the industry.

Folks, as soon as you feel enough security in your current situation, get out there and buy a Mustang. There will never be a better time - I guarantee you of that. If you want something that will be quite rare, then a 2009 Mustang will fit the bill and, by all accounts, will soon be available at bargain basement prices.
