Happy 44th, Mustang!

by CP Staff

On this day, in 1964, Ford introduced a new, segment-defining car to the public. In production ever since, Mustang has seen competitors come and go... and come again.

Threatened by gas prices and insurance premiums, the original Pony car has evolved over time to meet the needs of society and drivers that want something more than an anonymous tin ****box.

And, so it is likely to continue evolving in the face of new challenges. Refreshed styling and, perhaps some new drivetrain options, will update the car next year, extending its run for another three or four years.

The next "new" Mustang may be entirely different from the current one. Certainly, the environment it will inherit will be far different from that of today.

Future Mustangs may have to run on ethanol or a flux capacitor, but while respecting their heritage, they will adapt and survive.

Whatever may come over the next ten or twenty years, you can rest assured of a time-proven adage: This Pony has got legs.
