Owners of Note: Nick Heidfeld
by CP Staff
In a garage, tucked away in the town of Stafa, Switzerland, on the north shore of Lake Zurich, you will find a curious assortment of vehicles. Not surprisingly perhaps, a BMW X5 lends itself well to the winter challenges of the area.
In addition, a BMW M3 and a Mini Cooper S wait patiently to provide rapid transit on the more temperate days. Peering further in, things grow rather more eclectic as a pristine 1967 Volkswagen Beetle convertible becomes visible.
"My mother drove a Beetle convertible and still does today. To me this is the nicest convertible in the world, not only due to the sound, but also because of the memories," explained Nick Heidfeld.

As lead driver for the BMW Sauber Formula 1 Team, Heldfeld knows something about cars. Since his debut at the Australian Grand Prix on March 12, 2000, Heldfeld has 154 races and 12 podium finishes to his credit.
Nick races because it brings him great pleasure. His hopes for 2009 are: “That we are able to challenge for the championship with a car that is capable of victory despite the radical rule changes.” Nick Heidfeld wants to win.
When asked, Heidfeld often mentions the 1965 Ford Mustang as one of his favourite classic cars. Indeed, digging a little further into the garage, perhaps just past the 1966 Fiat 500, you will find his personal 1965 Mustang fastback.
While Heidfeld's life story may be more unique than most, his love for the Mustang is as common as the nine million other owners around the world.
