According to Jim Press, Chrysler Vice Chairman and President, the Dodge Challenger R/T, SRT and SE family of vehicles offer more fun and features than other vehicles in its class.

Speaking to media yesterday at the New York Auto Show, Press introduced the new 2009 Dodge Challenger models. "If you can dream it, we can build it," he added.

The new Dodge Challenger SE is the entry-level model, equipped with a 250 horsepower, 3.5L V-6 engine that delivers 25 mpg in highway use and will be priced in the low $20,000 range.

Press expects that the Challenger that will sell in volume is the 2009 Challenger R/T. The mid-range model comes with the next-generation 5.7-liter HEMI, which delivers a 7% increase in horsepower, plus improved torque and an estimated 5% increase in fuel economy.

"The right mix of hardware and technology makes Challenger R/T the most balanced sports car on the road," Press said. "It’s a balance of exceptional power, handling and style, with everyday comfort and practicality, all at a terrific value." He also emphasized that all three Challengers have a real backseat with best-in-class rear head and leg room.

Press further outlined equipment, available on a Challenger, that is not available on any other vehicle in its class. These include five-link independent rear suspension, standard side curtain airbags, sunroof, push button start, 20-inch wheels, hill start assist, optional remote start and comfortable seating for five people.
