Rehagen Working Hard on Mustangs

Dean Martin reports on the recent activities at the Rehagen Racing team, from Livonia, MI. "Things have been very busy in the shop since Daytona. In fact, I've only had two Sundays off since we've been back and I don't think I've worked less than 10 hours on any given day. I guess this is what people mean by 'living the dream.'"

"Since we've been back from Daytona, we've been busy doing maintenance on cars, and building parts to get ready for our recent test in Savannah, Ga., earlier this week. It was a successful test that we think found us some improvements in the chassis setup. It was also very valuable seat time for Jack Roush Jr."

"I think I got about 25 minutes of seat time while Jack got about nine hours of seat time. By the conclusion of the test event, Jack's lap times were right in line with mine. We're looking forward to getting some time at Lime Rock Park before the race weekend so Jack can get more familiar with that track and we can work on the right setup for LRP. We need to win after our disappointing finish at Daytona."

Team representatives were present in Tooele, UT, for the series launch of the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge. There, they took delivery of four new FR500S Mustang 'Spec' racers.

"We will be supporting the cars of Jim Click, Mike McGovern, Jamie Slone, and Mike Harvison. We're very excited about the new series and our experience with the Mustang should give us an advantage over the rest of the teams," explained Martin.

You can also look forward to another Koni Challenge series entry from the team. "As if we weren't busy enough with all that, we've also begun the build of a new KONI Challenge Mustang FR500C. The car was intended for another use, but we're going to build it as a KONI Challenge car. It is about 50 percent complete, but we are waiting on the engine and transmission to finish the rest of the build."

It sounds as though this team has a busy season already going on. The inaugural race in the Ford Racing series runs on May 3, at Road Atlanta. The next race in the Koni Challenge series is at Lime ROck, on May 23 - 26.
