Larry Miller, Dead at 64

Just about anyone in Utah, plus most sports fans around the country know who Larry Miller is. Mustang enthusiasts who embrace road course competition also know of the man, who passed away this weekend.

The Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup was instigated by Larry and his group of enthusiasts at Miller Motorsports Park a little over a year ago. The series completed its first season last year.

In addition to owning the Utah Jazz sports team, Larry's empire also encompassed dozens of car dealerships in the Rocky Mountains. The Larry H. Miller Charities is a nonprofit foundation set up in 1995 to fund programs that assist children, with an emphasis on health and education.

A viewing will be held Friday, February 27, 2009 from 4-8 p.m. at the EnergySolutions Arena, in the VIP room, 301 West South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84101.

Funeral services will also take place at the EnergySolutions Arena on Saturday, February 28 at 12 noon. Interment to immediately follow at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 200 N Street, Salt Lake City, Utah 84103. The public is welcome to attend all aforementioned services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Larry H. Miller Charities, for the benefit of women and children in need, 301 West South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah 84101.
